Carol - "Thank you so much for the fantastic gift bag! I was overwhelmed with the generosity shown by you and so many others. It was certainly uplifting to receive so many encouraging notes and stories. I adore my pink cap and the beautifully made angel! I wear them both. I will definitely pass on the books to share with others in my situation. It’s the least I can do.
"Someone once wrote that love makes the world go around. That love includes the gift of giving and support that you and your wonderful friends have shown. I’m grateful and humbled by the thoughtfulness shown to me, a stranger."

Dena - "When I received the box you sent, I was a little reluctant to open it. You see, I was still in the denial stage. This is not happening to me. It was so fast & the word cancer was not in my vocabulary. I did not have time for this. However, when I opened the box & saw the letters, the handmade gifts, the thoughtful things that were there, I realized others had been where I was & that I am a strong fighter.
"Your organization has touched so many in my family & we would all be honored to help in any way we can. Not only myself, but my sister . . . and my daughter . . . and my 4 grandkids. . . .
"Thank you for your kindness & God bless."

The enclosed scripture reads as follows: "For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact your are doing." 1 Thessalonians 5:9-11

Dusty (Joyce’s Daughter) - "Thank you to the Sparkle Caps project. Words cannot express my gratitude for giving my mother your beautiful bag full of love and inspiration!! You all have no idea how this is helping her to fight on !!!!"
Joyce - "My primary cancer was 1/9/12 and I was shocked after 3 yrs of remission to have stage 4 tumors to fight again. I have a strong faith in Jesus our Lord, but on 11/10/2015 I was down in a bad place knowing that the chemo was lasting longer than I anticipated. I have been blessed with a great family and friend support system and know from my previous experience that there are good days and bad days. For some weird reason that all fled from me and I had been crying for 2 days!!! When I received your beautiful bag of love, encouragement, it was like an angel of The Lord flew by and dropped it exactly where it was meant to be !!! Thank you soooo much! May God richly bless you for what you do for others!!!"

It felt like a Christmas morning when I was a child with the anticipation of seeing the next gift. I know it is only because of strength from God that brings the gladness of each new day. It is not an easy journey but I am so thankful that God is holding my hand and leading me through it all. Thank you again for all your prayers and thoughtfulness."

Note from Susan "Victorious" about the following thank you: I picked up an envelope from one of the chemo nurses at SC Oncology ("SCOA") on Wed., March 25th: The beautiful card had this personal message inside:
Shirley - "Thank you so much for the goody bag. I love everything in it. It means so much to me. I am giving you a little donation to help with your work."
As God was working His plan with me that Wed., I met a cancer patient and her husband on the elevator while at SCOA. When we got off the elevator, I sat in a chair and her husband wheeled her up to me so we could talk. She is fighting cancer for the third time. I got the needed information from her in order to do a special Sparkle Caps gift bag. Because of all she was going through, I did a super duper bag with a few extras I knew would uplift and empower her and put an even bigger smile on her face that day. Her husband took her to the radiation dept., and I sat in the "lobby" making her gift bag. I know she was going through that bag on her way home. She said she knew that she was dying of cancer, but she and her husband had smiles on their faces and knew that each day was one to be lived with blessings.
So SHIRLEY, your "small" donation was used to do the extras for a fellow cancer patient that very day! God is blessing both these women through the gift bags, and I am always blessed with the honor of doing them! Susan "Victorious"

Phyllis - "Imagine my surprise when, after my third chemo on Jan. 26, I received a Christmas gift from the Sparkle Caps Project! I’ve always prayed to my Guardian Angel from childhood. The ‘Angel’ book, hand-made angel reinforced my sense of being watched over and cared for. All the gifts you sent were thoughtful and are being used and much appreciated. Love and prayers to all."
January 27, 2015
April - "I just wanted to let you know that I got your package Monday at chemo. Gwen [chemo nurse] left Mom and I alone to look through it, because it was very moving. I love the hat! …I didn’t have a blingy hat; all of mine had breast cancer logos on them. It’s nice to have a fancy one to wear with anything. The knitted pastel cap is really warm and soft. The letters. . .were very moving. Mom and I read several envelopes full of letters and stories…. I should have brought a jumbo box of tissues! The inspirational material about fully relying on God really touched Mom. I appreciate everything that you gave me."

Again. . . .many thanks!"

I only wish you would know what your care packages do for those fighting cancer...to make us feel ok and that is so huge in this fight. ..when I am out and about we know when we see others with a sparkle cap on that we are in this fight together."

Janet - "This is a long overdue acknowledgement of my receiving a gift bag from ‘The Sparkle Caps Project’. I received it at a time when I really needed it. In early 2013 during chemotherapy treatments at SC Oncology Associates in Columbia, SC, a gift bag was given to me as I sat there during my 3 hour treatment. I was surprised and overwhelmed as I went through all the items that were contained within it. The books, the cap, the angel, the letters, etc. It amazed me that complete strangers were providing such lovely items to someone like me who at the time felt very lost. It was a wonderful compilation of gifts and I was so grateful to receive them.
"I have never forgotten this kind gesture and in appreciation for your thoughtfulness to me, I am enclosing a check for $____ so that you may provide one of these beautiful gift bags to another woman cancer patient who will need uplifting materials to help her through her struggle.
"Sincere thanks to you and your organization for all that you do. I continue to ‘fight the fight’ with ongoing chemotherapy. I still keep your gifts and books by my bedside."

Adrian - "I wanted to thank The Sparkle Cap Project. July 16, 2013 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. . . . My world as I knew it was changed forever. I was devastated just like any woman would be, but after a good cry survival mode kicked in and has been going strong since.
"Throughout this journey I have met some of the best people in the world, from my medical team to some wonderful organizations that are out there to help in any way they can, such as The Sparkle Cap Project. . . my awesome gift bag, it's was filled with love and prayers. I know cause I could feel them as I was taking each book, letters, brochures, pamphlets, small gifts, a beautiful handmade Angel and of course the prettiest sparkle hot pink cap out of the gift bag!!!
"One of the letters was from Susan. . . . This letter helped me so much and to her Thank You!!" Susan was telling how she dreaded her hair coming out, how her husband wanted to be the one to cut it all off when that day came, well it came and her husband got everything ready and cut her hair, but once it was over it was the fear itself that was the worse. I came to realize by reading Susan's words that she hit the nail on the head, FEAR, is the worst I always feared the words you have cancer, but I was told "you have cancer" and I'm ok. Thank you Susan for enlightening me to that thought!!!
August 3, 2013
Lori - "So I go to check my mail today and I see this box...I think I am not expecting anything and I haven't ordered anything...I look at the return address and see it's from The Sparkle Caps Project...I am sitting here with my daughter going through the books and started to read the notes and decided before I end up crying again, I am going to open one letter/note a day! I am beyond thankful for receiving this and for you thinking of me. I am honored to help others see how beautiful they are through this. . . .this has made me smile and will continue to for many years to come. Thank you again! All my love!"
August 3, 2013

I was overjoyed and so excited to look through all the notes, little gifts, books, and of course the caps! I have been battling my second round of breast cancer for the past year. I have had so many setbacks. It’s been a very difficult road. My faith in God and the wonderful care I have received from my caregivers is what has brought me this far. I just wanted to let you and your organization know how appreciative I am of your work!! It made my day!!! Thanks."

Mary - "When I was at my lowest, my nurse navigator introduced me to the Lovely Lady who handles The Sparkle Caps gift bags......Words just couldn't do justice to the feelings i had when I received that bag,....but I have plenty of words for the kindness and openness given to me not only in my gift bag, but in my day to day life after meeting Ms. ‘Victorious’ in person. She is an awesome lady who cares so much about others, she is a true inspiration to those of us who are still trying to figure out what we should do next, in our recovery and our spiritual and emotional healing. I have received so much advice, suggestions, books, and just some plain ole knowledge!!.... and I have a true friend. Much love to you Susan, You are indeed, Victorious!!"

Kimberly - "When I walked into the exam room the Sparkle Caps Project bag was on the table, I jokingly told the nurse you should not have brought me a gift, she said I didn't. We both looked at the bag and realized it was for me, I can't tell you the love and joy I felt at that moment. After the bad weekend I had and knowing the bag was for me lifted my spirits immediately. So thank you very much for allowing the sun to shine on a cloudy day."

I believe God will bless everyone who helped with this project in a special way. Thank you for the books. . . . Please thank your sister-in-law [Nancy] for the lovely angel which I have hung in my curio [cabinet] where I can see it every day. . . . Joan - "Susan, my oncology nurse presented me with my Sparkle Caps bag filled with wonderful presents and letters that you made just for me. Your selections of books and quotes speak to my fears and hopes. God spoke to me when I thought I was dying and I pleaded with God to take me. I saw a brightness and felt such warmth and then I heard Him say, ‘It Is Not About Dying, It's About Living.’ Some time living is very hard. Then someone like you comes along and what you say and do pulls me through. Thank you."
March 12, 2013
Ronna - "Susan, I love the concept of The Sparkle Caps Project and know what it recently meant to my cousins; One who lost her battle with cancer and the other who was a caregiver and supporter. Thank you for sharing your battle with this dreaded disease and this special encouraging project."
March 9, 2013
Jo - "I was blessed, yes blessed, by my caregiver's bag. . . . It means so much to know others are thinking of you in times like this and sharing in the journey, that understand the roller coaster of emotions. My sister so enjoyed my sharing my bag with her. She was too ill to read or get out of bed. . ., but she did so enjoy my bag with me and appreciated someone thinking to do such a nice thing for me. A part of the gift that I most treasure is the note of introduction from you, Susan, and the very touching and heartfelt note you sent to me after I lost my sister. It was very unexpected and very appreciated. How well spoken you are, Susan, and how much your encouragement means! Thank you so very much. Thank you so much for stepping out to help others."
March 2, 2013
Sherri - "I just received The Sparkle Caps Project gift bag and cannot begin to describe how it made me feel! The purple cap is so awesome. . . . The goodies, cards, books and letters and something that will occupy my time reading them all for a long time. I cannot say enough about Susan! She was prompt in answering my initial request, and proceeded to give me encouragement and information several times that day! I was touched and impressed with my whole experience."

Name Unknown – "When I arrived at SCOA last Tuesday for treatment, I received the most incredible gift bag from you! It was filled with so many useful, practical ...items like the sparkling cap (how did you know I love purple?!?!), popular, health-related and game books, countless letters and inspiring letters, quotes and prayers to aid me on this journey. I THANK YOU and all the angels who assisted you from the bottom of my heart. I am overcome with the outpouring of loving support and resources that continue to appear, both in tangible and intangible form. I never realized how many blessings were part of this medical journey until it became my journey, too. For all you and others do to share your ‘tender, loving care’ generously and selflessly, I applaud you and I thank God for you."
August 24, 2012
Carol - "Susan, Jane loved the Sparkle Cap and the rest of the items in the bag. Thanks for what you are doing....it has to be such a morale booster for women losing their hair. I know that Jane had purchased 2 wigs before she started chemo, but told me she HATED wearing them and went to caps instead."
Vicki - "Carol, I think Susan and her wonderful Sparkle Caps Project are truly blessings from heaven. I know how your friend feels about wigs! My Sparkle Caps are my favorites and I wear them every single day! When I wear them, I think how this project is so awesome, heartwarming, and touched by our angel, Susan."
August 4, 2012
Mary - "I just have to post how much I loved it when I got my cap from someone who didn't even know me.....I will always treasure it..I was so blessed all through my cancer treatments and met really wonderful people, especially Susan. . .who is absolutely the sweetest lady in the world. She makes me want to strive to be the best I can be......I hope to be half the person she is....and this project does so much to boost the morale of patients in treatment.....I cried happy tears when I got my bag, they were the first happy tears in a long line of many sad ones..I felt that I too, could be ‘victorious’."
July 9, 2012
Vicki - "I was at the cancer center today (wearing my sassy red sparkle cap), and saw a woman in an adjacent room also wearing a sparkle cap - but hers was black. We weren't close enough to speak, but words weren't needed as she touched her cap and smiled and I did the same. Susan, it occurred to me that your caps create a bond among strangers that would not otherwise exist. I hope you know the beautiful impact that your caps create, sometimes without a single word being spoken. Thank you for all you do!"
March 29, 2012
Karen - "Thank you for the cap that my mom got from you. I am touched that there are people like you, projects like this. I am touched beyond words, and I just wanted to thank you.
"What amazes me is that the world seems like such a dark place, full of more evil and hatred than good. Not long ago, I would have said that people don't care about other people anymore. This project has shown me that there are complete strangers who care very much. What you are doing shines light into a time of darkness. Sometimes it feels like God isn't in the world, but The Sparkle Caps Project and people like you remind me that He is."
October 31, 2011

Jill - "Wanted to thank you for blessing my sister-in-law with a gift bag. I know God has his hand in your ministry because the 2 books you placed in her bag were one's she specifically had wanted. One was the exact title she wanted and the other was a topic that she was wanting to explore. Only God could have guided your hands to put those 2 exact books in her bag! The words of encouragement have meant so much to her and of course she LOVES her sparkle cap. Thank you for using your cancer journey to bring hope and comfort to those who are facing cancer now. I wish you much success in your new journey with The Sparkle Caps Project."

Emmy - "Thank you for 'The Sparkle Caps.' I have received so many compliments about the hats. Also, thank you for the gift bag of items. So much planning and thoughts were put into the making of this bag. Your ministry has certainly touched a lot of lives making each of us feel special during this difficult journey. Thank you for all you do."
Below are some of the Thank Yous (in total or portions thereof) we have received at Sparkle Caps. Please note, when someone is thanking me, she is thanking all the others who helped make her gift bag possible.
Susan "Victorious" - Victorious over cancer. Victorious in God!
This is so much more than a thank you for a Sparkle Caps gift bag. I love this message—examples of support and love in action. Please don’t miss reading this!
Mickey Tucker - (portions of a message 8/12/17): “I would like to thank you for the wonderful gifts that you have sent me.” “The books. . .have brought such comfort and peace to my life.”

Lauryn - “These are such an amazing and thoughtful idea! I was with my mother when she received hers as she was getting chemo. Not only did it immediately put a smile on her face, but the items in the bag were also very useful in the following days, and weeks to come. I think this is an absolutely wonderful project!!!! God Bless You!”
Nelle – “Thank you so much for the gift bag I received several weeks ago at SC Oncology. It was the nicest I have ever received and [it] was clear that a lot of thought had gone into preparing it. The gifts were all so useful and the Bible verses and envelopes so uplifting. Please keep up the good work so others will be helped as much as I have been.” Nelle included a donation to pay it forward to another woman in treatment for cancer.
Janice L. - “Sparkle Caps, thank you for all that you do for so many deserving cancer patients that need to feel love and support during this difficult journey....I am battling breast cancer (stage 4) and I am one of the patients that you have helped in the past once before...I have been battling my cancer for 3 and a half years.....would love to have one of your Christmas packages if possible.....”
NOTE: A Christmas bag of blessings was mailed to Janice, and she had it before Christmas. Susan “Victorious”
Carol O. – “Jill O. received your bag. She was moved to tears. So grateful for the support from you.”

I received the most beautiful bag filled with a baseball cap, a knit cap, a scarf, books and word find to do, candy, lotions, notes for me and my caregiver to open along my journey! Wonderful friends and wonderful support!! ❤️💜"
Marielle – “I am not sure whom I need to thank for this, but I so needed this today. This "blessing box" (which I am going to call it) could not have come at a more needed time. Oddly enough, I have spoken or wanted some of the things that came with it.
“Butterscotch candy- my favorite thing to eat during chemo as it truly keeps that Nasty taste out of your mouth.
“Jesus Calling- I have always wanted this book but it was never the right time.
"Udderly Smooth- I literally spoke with one of my friends about finding this specifically in a smaller size as it is the only thing that helps keep the blisters on my hands at bay.
"So, to whomever is responsible for this beyond thoughtful care package... THANK YOU with all of my heart. Its timing could not be any better."
Sparkle Caps Response:
Marielle, thank you so much for your emotional, supportive words of thanks. All glory to God, for this is truly His project. I am the conduit to get these bags of blessings into the right hands, and again, we have Samantha . . . to thank for referring you to us. I am so glad that some of the items were things that you knew wanted and the others will be things you did not know you needed but they will fit the bill to perfection. God bless you. Thank you for your support. It is a blessing to do Sparkle Caps. Susan "Victorious"
Andrea Marie - "My Mother was blessed with a Sparkle Cap gift bag this past Monday at SCOA. It was the most uplifting surprise and touched my Mother's heart and also my own. The love that goes into them was truly felt and appreciated. Thank you and God bless."
“Just wanted to thank those who do the “Sparkle Caps Project!” I was referred by Samantha . . . .” This really brightened my day. I was recently diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer. Just shaved my head today (2/12/18) so I really appreciated the caps. Not to mention the books & other gifts. God Bless all of you! Love, Teresa"
Ebony – “Last week as I attended my first chemo session, my nurse handed me a gift bag and stated that it was from the Sparkle Cap Project. In one of my scariest moments in life, a group of people that don’t even know me made sure that a gift bag was there waiting for me and though I greatly appreciate the contents of the bag, I appreciate more the smile that it gave me when I received it. Knowing that a group of strangers are fighting with me along side my family and friends made my heart smile...thanks and much love and blessings to everyone associated with The Sparkle Cap Project. You individuals are amazing ❤❤❤”
Allison S. – “Thank you for my gift bag. Some of the items, especially the information for caregivers, has been very nice to have. That you would be so kind as to create these bags means a great deal to me, as well as other patients, I am sure. The purple hats are awesome! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Lisa – “Thank you so much for the amazing gift bag. Not only was it a wonderful surprise but it made me feel special and was filled with everything I needed for my chemo treatments. Yesterday was my first treatment and so far I’m hanging in there. Your letters have been great to read and you are a god send to all of us. Thank you so much.”
Sandy - "This is such an amazing group! I have lung cancer and my first chemo treatment, a lady came up to me and gave me a gift bag full of things that i may need. This was such a blessing as I went through it I was so over whelmed. There was letters of encouragement from ladies that have gone through what I am going through. There was a sparkle hat, book, word search, lotion, and a number of things that you don't think of to have. A journal book that is so important to keep up with on your journey. Much love to all the ladies that are with this group. God Bless you all!"
Mickey - “I spent many weekends on my couch reading the books and letters. I felt such comfort from your letters.” “Thank you so much for what you do! It really meant a lot to me and helped me through some tough times! Blessings to you!”
NOTE: Susan "Victorious" - I wanted to share just a few words from a beautiful note I received this morning from a former Sparkle Caps gift bag recipient. Every gift we touched had such a meaning to us. Thank you so much and to all involved. (emphasis added) The Angel book was such a blessing, as I love anything about angels.
“I had breast cancer 18 years ago and now facing it again. I am blessed as it is stage 1, but doing 4 rounds of chemo for prevention of a recurrence. God gave me 18 years and I know I am already a survivor again.
“Thank you too for the inspirational letters to both of us. You are truly a messenger from God.”
